NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

Your local pharmacist will be able to give you free health advice at any time;  you don't need an appointment.

You can see an experienced nurse for treatment of minor injuries and illnesses, seven days a week, 8am until 8pm at the Centre.

Accident and Emergency / 999

Whatever the day or time, if you or someone else experiences severe chest pain, loss of blood or suspected broken bones, go to your nearest accident and emergency department or call 999. Accident and emergency departments are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and can assess serious injuries and provide emergency treatment. 

Evening and weekend GP appointments

GP practices across Wakefield are now offering weekend and evening appointments.

The new GP Care Wakefield scheme enables patients across the district to have access to GP support after normal practice hours.

This enables patients to have access to medical advice and , if required, access to a Wakefield GP appointment, through their normal GP practice telephone number between:

• 6pm and 10pmhrs Monday to Friday
• 9am to 3pm Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays

Patients who use the service will be provided with medical advice from a dedicated nursing team, who can then refer them to a GP appointment that day, if required, at Pontefract Hospital or Trinity medical Centre in Wakefield
