Healthcare Assistants
Healthcare assistants support our whole clinical team with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressures measurement, ECG’s, NHS Health Checks, aural clinics, influenza vaccinations, spirometry, simple wound dressings & stich removal. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Practice Management
A practice manager is responsible for the overall management of the practice, ensuring it operates efficiently and effectively. They handle the day-to-day operations, including patient management, staff management, and financial oversight. The deputy practice managers support the practice manager in these areas, focusing on the day-to-day running of the practice and ensuring it meets its strategic objectives. They also provide leadership, maintain HR legislation, and oversee staff induction and appraisal processes.

The administrative team play a crucial role for the smooth operation of the practice. It is made up of medical secretaries and administration assistants. Their responsibilities include secretarial support to GP’s and the clinical teams, patient correspondence, referrals, and documentation, collating medical records data, organising, and maintaining patient records, organising recalls for health management, resolving patient queries, processing electronic mail and online forms, handling all forms and communications electronically to streamline operations.

Prescription Administrators
The Prescription Administrators process requests for repeat prescriptions, ensuring medication has the necessary authorisations, and promoting cost-effective prescribing. They monitor the effectiveness of the Electronic Prescribing Service, handle medication changes from hospital letters, deal with online requests and telephone calls. Additionally, they work closely with pharmacists and technicians to keep up to date with prescribing changes and provide regular prescribing updates to the practice management team.
Patient Coordinators
Our Patient Coordinators are available to help you with appointments and enquires. They can deal with you face-to face or over the telephone between the hours of 08:00 -18:30 Monday - Friday. All information is treated in absolute confidence, and they are all trained in Care navigation to ensure you are referred to most appropriate place. Their job is very demanding so please try and be patient. They handle incoming telephone calls and patient inquiries, provide a welcoming professional first point of contact, and support patients with empathy and patience. They also book appointments, manage patient requests, and handle patient records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.

Pharmacy
Our pharmacists play a crucial role in patient care by managing medications, providing clinical advice, and supporting the healthcare team to improve patient outcomes. They conduct medication reviews, especially for patients with long-term conditions or those taking multiple medications,
educating patients about their medications, potential side effects, and adherence strategies.
Care Coordinators
Care coordinators in a GP surgery play a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive the appropriate care and support. They are responsible for, coordinating and navigating care, assessing changing needs and managing caseloads. They work closely with GPs and other professionals within the practice.
Community Midwives
Midwives offer care during pregnancy and after birth to all patients registered with the practice. On registering with the midwife you will be given more information on the roles of the midwife, GP, health visitor and all clinics you will need to attend during your pregnancy.

The district nursing service is provided by the Primary Care Trust and is attached to the practice. Care is provided within a community setting and in-house clinics.
Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
