Training Practice

Ash Grove Medical Centre is proud to be a dedicated training practice, accredited in 2025. Our commitment to medical education is a cornerstone of our philosophy, and we believe it significantly enhances the quality of care we provide to our patients.

Benefits of Being a Training Practice

Our status as a training practice brings numerous benefits to both our patients and our team:

Enhanced Quality of Care: Being a training practice encourages a culture of continuous learning and development amongst all our staff. We remain up-to-date with the latest medical advancements and best practices, as we are constantly reviewing and updating our knowledge base for teaching purposes.

Fresh Perspectives: Trainees often bring new ideas, recent medical knowledge, and enthusiasm, which can stimulate discussions and contribute to innovative approaches to patient care.

Robust Clinical Governance: Our training status means we undergo regular, rigorous inspections and assessments to ensure the highest standards of patient care, safety, and education are maintained.

Increased Appointment Availability: The presence of GP Registrars and other trainees can often increase the number of available appointments, improving access to care for our patients.

Team Development: Our experienced GPs enjoy the opportunity to mentor and teach, which contributes to their own professional development and job satisfaction.

Your Role as a Patient:

We understand that you may occasionally be seen by a doctor in training. Please be assured that:

All trainees are fully supervised: GP Registrars consult independently but always have a supervising GP available for advice and support. Foundation doctors and medical students work under direct supervision.

Your consent is paramount: We will always inform you if you are seeing a doctor in training. You have the right to decline being seen by a trainee if you prefer, and this will not affect your care in any way.

Learning opportunities: Sometimes, with your consent, consultations may be video-recorded for training purposes or a supervising GP may sit in during an appointment. This is purely for educational purposes and helps our trainees develop their skills. We will always seek your explicit permission beforehand.

We are incredibly proud of our role in training the next generation of healthcare professionals and thank our patients for their understanding and support in this vital endeavor. If you have any questions about our training practice status, please do not hesitate to speak to a member of our team.
